Study in sweden

Many students in India and elsewhere are showing interest in studying in sweden. With a high standard of education, immigrant-friendly policies and a near-perfect social system, sweden is one of the ideal destination for higher education.

I try to compile some useful information about studying in sweden.

Application and Admission
The admission procedure is very straght forward. STUDERA is the website where one has to apply for admission  to all courses in all universtities in sweden.
Take your time to browse through this site. Make sure to submit all the required document before the deadline and you are on your way in.

A recent trend is to apply through a agent. The agent usually charges 50,000 rupees or more with a promise of getting admission in the university of your choice. That's not true! .The agent has no say in the admission procedure and i strongly recommend not to go through the agent, unless you have a lot of money to waste.

Accomadation
When it comes to accomadation, i must admit that it is difficult to find one in sweden. BLOCKET is the best place to begin your search. Alternatively, Call your university and enquire about student accomadation. The people are generally nice and will be happy to assist you.

Cost of Living
Spending pattern is different for each one of us. Swedein is one of the expensive places to live in europe. Most students i know spend somewhere between 5500 to 6500 SEK per month on living.

So, If you are looking for a calm, peaceful student life and a good quality of education, you should give sweden a serious thought.

Happy Learning!!!

  1. Oh good post.

    However..
All foreign students must pay a full fee for thier education from next year has been announced by the swedish gvt,
As for living costs ( and not easy to get jobs here for students) it wont be the golden temple for foreign students anymore,
Whoever passing out will be the last luckiest once and thats it really.

Please update this with the information as well.

Also you should have posted the negative things people will face in this country for th potential visitor to know..

    I have a list here .-

    For eg : getting jobs..
language problem that everyone must study swedish and have to become near fluent to survive..
using english means you are automatically given 2nd rated services or options ,as well as wrong advices ( if you believe me)..
totally ignorant customer service treat you like sh&t / same visiting offices if you want something..
sinful taxing nowhehre else in europe..
dark, cloudy & cold atmosphere all the time with not all places are so ideal to live..
Unfriendly neighbours and landlords have no faith in you no matter how professional you are.. There is a silly contract for each and everything..
    extremely costly accomodation,services etc
problems even getting a bank account and having full use if it such as student credit facilities..not here though
ignorant and arrogant crowds who will refuse to say sorry, thank you, excuse me...
You pay 10 times the price of something you can buy at some of the other european countries..
While keeping the smile & all nice to the face, talking behind in groups, sticking to groups is rather very rude..
Giving bad feedback without thinking it affects someones career and life ( unless there was a serious issue with) is VERY normal here ..
And ofcourse plenty of dog sauce on the streets :=)

So you will think this is best c o u n t r y to live ? hmmmm not really is it !!!

  2. regarding the cost you have mentioned, many students from south asia (atleast 99%) dont bring in thier own money here to spend, most are based on the false thinking that they can get jobs here to fund the university and living, its utter misleading and its not true, often they are bankrupt because thier sponsors/parents inability to pay the full cost of studying in europe, this is the reality unless a student can secure funds from relatives or friends.. working in blackmarket is extremely difficult and its illegal !
